The Absurd
While the word is currently used to refer to a kind of dry, ironic situation, The Absurd has a rich philosophical tradition most closely associated with the writings of Albert Camus. What are we to do with the question of life’s meaning, especially in the face of its persistent unanswerability? Camus says that “one must imagine Sisyphus happy,” but this is no simple task. In modern times, it seems we can find countless echoes of the loop Sisyphus is stuck in, from the eternal scroll of social media to the endless stream of new variants and vaccines; how do you access the repetitions of our lives where meaning escapes our grasp, and The Absurd is all that remains?

Arte Laguna [Artist Spotlight]
The brainchild of Cultural Association MoCA, Arte Laguna Prize is an international art competition dedicated to the visual arts, in particular painting, sculpture, photography, video art and performance, virtual and digital art. It was created to give the opportunity to art talents, more or less young, to emerge, to be noticed by the general public and by the jury composed of important names in the contemporary art scene, as well as to allow a democratic comparison between international artists.
The goal is to create an increasingly authoritative and influential system in the world of contemporary art by involving new players from year to year. Since 2006, a virtuous circuit has been created that sees many diversified realities as actors: Foundations, Museums, Galleries, Residences and spaces for art, Made in Italy companies and international brands, with which special projects were designed, then transformed in concrete opportunities for growth and momentum for the professional career of artists.

The curatorial idea of this exhibition is to “invade/infect” the Museum, in its various spaces, with works of art, technology and science, all of them focused on the Pandemic theme, from scientific aspects of virus replication, to social aspects of its effects on the society.
The works and artists to be presented in this exhibition, resulted from a selection of participants in the online edition of the “Maker Art” section, promoted by the Festival through an international Open Call. Pandemic was the inevitable leitmotiv of this Open Call.
The relationship between art and catastrophes, or isolation, is not new, but the crossing of these two realities with the planet of biological and digital viruses, yes, it is a new, striking and lasting experience.
